Both are good. Here is when each one wins.
Tango and Peutly get compared a lot, and they should not be. Tango turns a process you perform into an annotated step-by-step guide: screenshots, numbered instructions, exportable to PDF. Peutly turns a product flow into a demo the viewer drives themselves. Both start with a browser capture, and that is where the similarity ends. This page is mostly about which of the two jobs you actually have.

The seat maths. Tango Pro is $15 to $26 per user per month depending on team size and billing term, so ten people cost roughly $150 to $220 a month. Peutly Starter is $175 flat, in the middle of that range. The numbers land in the same neighbourhood, which means the choice really is about the output format rather than the bill.
What each price buys. Peutly captures the real DOM on every plan, from $175 a month, so the demo is your actual interface and stays editable afterwards. Tango does not offer DOM capture on any plan, Screenshot-based guides. No DOM capture on any plan.. The two prices buy different kinds of product.

Where Peutly wins
The viewer does something instead of reading something
A Tango guide is read. A Peutly demo is driven: the viewer clicks the real buttons in the captured interface and moves at their own pace. For a prospect deciding whether your product fits, doing beats reading, and it is the difference between a support artefact and a sales one.
Lead capture at the step where interest peaks
Peutly puts a form at any step in the demo and records which step the viewer reached before filling it in. A documentation tool has no reason to do that, and Tango does not. If demos are meant to produce pipeline, this is the mechanism.
Demos that survive a UI change
Both tools break when your product changes, but they break differently. Tango captures screenshots, so a changed label means a new capture. Peutly captures the DOM, so you edit the text in place, or run find and replace across the whole replay.
Flat pricing that includes the whole company
Tango is per user. Peutly is per workspace, so the cost of letting one more person publish a demo is nothing.
Where Tango wins
It is the better tool for documentation, by a distance
If what you need is an SOP your ops team can follow, an onboarding runbook, or a guide someone will print, Tango produces exactly that and Peutly produces nothing like it. Export to PDF, Markdown and HTML is on Pro. We have no written-document output at all.
Desktop capture
Tango Pro captures desktop applications as well as the browser. Peutly is browser-only, through a Chrome extension. If the process you are documenting happens in a native app, we cannot record it.
Much cheaper per person, and a usable free tier
Tango Free supports up to ten users. Tango Pro is $15 to $26 per user per month. For a small team documenting internal processes, that is a fraction of what we cost, for a job we do not do.
Enterprise governance
Automatic PII detection and redaction, 365-day version history, audit logs, SSO with Okta and Azure, and SCIM are all on Tango Enterprise. Peutly has none of them.
Choose Tango if the output is a guide someone reads, especially an internal one, or if you need to capture a desktop app. Choose Peutly if the output is a demo a prospect clicks through and leaves their email in. Plenty of teams run both, and that is a reasonable answer too.
